Canal District

Savannah's next big step in imagining the future of the city is the creation and development of the Canal District, defined by Louisville Road to the north, Magazine and Stiles avenues to the west, and I-16 to the south and east. Construction of the new Savannah Arena will drive interaction with the canal and development of the underutilized areas immediately around it. The goal is to cultivate a dynamic new signature area that connects the historic neighborhoods on the east and west sides of the city and serves a variety of purposes and needs.

To support this initiative, a variety of public-engagement opportunities have been organized in the next few months. Savannah community members of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Your participation in the planning process is crucial to making the Canal District serve Savannah and its communities to its full potential.
